15th August is a very memorable and joyous day for every Indian citizen as on this very special day we got independence in the year 1947. It is a day of remembrance. It is a day for giving tributes to all the patriots and freedom fighters who brought independence in our country by paying their life. It is a national holiday and is a general festival which does not come under any rituals.
The whole country celebrates it very nicely. Our honourable Prime Minister starts the celebration by hosting flags and addressing the nation from the historical monument Red Fort in
. Then he gives a speech on the achievements of the country and encourages the citizens for its further developments and presents the past history of Indian independence. The celebration gets its full form by a march-past of the armed and police forces. National television relays all the programmes from the beginning to the end. In cities, the media goes to town and organizes contests, promotions, programmes related to Indian Independence. Television channels, Radio channels show old and new patriotic movies play old and new patriotic songs. Different brands pay their tributes to their nation through billboards. In cities, shop-keepers sell various types of independence instruments like flags, stickers, tee-shirts, try-coloured balloons, greetings card plastic bags etc. Now at the present time people also wish their friend by sending images, e-greeting cards, sms, scraps based on independence theme through internet.
In schools, college, students celebrates this day by arranging cultural programmes, drills, flag hosting, distribution of sweets and prizes etc. Government and private organization also follow the similar thing. House colonies, clubs, societies generally held entertainment programmes and competitions based on the freedom theme.
Independence Day is a day of achievement of rights, liabilities and dignity.
